Acts 2:47 – “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
After the preaching of the gospel, and the saving of souls we read about some amazing unity. Christians were selling their belongings and meeting eachothers needs. They were meeting daily in complete unity remembering and rejoicing over their salvation. Verse 47 says they were praising God.
What were they so excited about? What made such a change in their lives? We see people make professions of faith all the time but they do not become crazy with praise toward God like these people did.
I believe these people really understood and had a better grasp of what it meant to be saved. They understood that their salvation meant that they were now “safe from the consequences of sin.”
They no longer had to die the second death.
They no longer had to live without purpose. (They could lay eternal treasures up in Heaven.)
They would not have to be rejected by God.
They came out from under the condemnation of God.
They would no longer have to burn in Hell for all eternity.
They were no longer the enemies of God.
They had become new creatures in Christ.
They had become debt free.
In conclusion, we see that these people, as with all saved people have an unbelievable amount of grace to be thankful for. God has been so good to us up to this point, that even if He doesn’t do another thing for us in this life we are forever endebted to Him!!!
