Who Do You Consider Family?

Mark 3:14 – “And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,”

What was the difference maker in the disciple’s lives?

The fact that they were with Jesus!

Judas was also with Jesus and still didn’t turn out. This just goes to show that we can do spiritual things and still not be spiritual. The key is in being with Jesus and being all there. In other words it means spending quality time with Him.

We can be with our wives and not really be there and in time be filing for divorce. Why? Because when we were with them we weren’t really with them.

After having a dispute with the Pharisees concerning the Spirit by which He performed His miracles. The multitude that was setting around Him informs Him that His mother and brethren are outside waiting on Him. He replies by saying, “For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” (Mark 3:35)

Application:
How close is your relationship with the family of God? In verse 14 Jesus chose who would be with Him. Then in verse 35 we see who He counts as real family in life.

We should be close with, fellowship with, and work with those that do the will of the Father for those people are our eternal family! That actually would cutoff spending time with people that are just members of the church and those that are walking and serving or that have a working faith!

These were the people that had the same desires, the same purpose, and that He could relate to.
