My Life is Worth Nothing!

Paul declares in the twentieth chapter of Acts that his life was worth nothing.  He had to come to this wild conclusion about his life if he was to go forward in the will of God.

The Holy Spirit had revealed that the path he was to take was filled with prison and suffering.  How could Paul fulfill all that God had for him to do?  How could he go into Jerusalem knowing that hardships and misfortune were waiting for him?

There was only one way.  That was crucifying the flesh.  Paul had crucified the flesh and realized that his life was not his own.  In reality, eternal life with God reality, Paul realized that comforts, success, and happiness in this life really didn’t matter.  The number one thing that everything had to come secondary to was the glory of God and that by the fulfilling of His will.

Paul said my life is worth nothing unless I use it for finishing what the Lord Jesus has called me to do.  Did you get that?  In other words, meaning in life is synonymous or coupled with doing the Lord’s will.  It was for Paul and it is for us.

Are you struggling to find meaning to life?  Are you busy with a full schedule but you can’t really pinpoint why you do everything you do?

Verse 24 in this chapter says, “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”

Jesus is everything.  He is the reason why you should be a good dad.  He is the reason why you should be a good employ.  He is the reason why you should have integrity in everything you do.  He is the reason why you should be a good steward of the Gospel.  He is the reason for everything in life – first and foremost.  Apart from Him life is worthless!

    Glory to God

    Yes! This is very true.
The bible says II timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. We have to put aside all issues of this life and focus to the works that God created us for
