Rom 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
Rom 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
Rom 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Christ is Lord. Is he your Lord? Have you bowed the knee to Him? Paul said he was a slave to Jesus Christ (Romans 1:1). This was a free choice that Paul made.
Christ called his disciples friends. God calls us sons and brethren of Christ but when a Christian realizes how much God loves him and how good God’s care is for him then he will willingly desire to be the slave of the Lord Jesus Christ.
A slave has no will. A slave is dominated. A slave has no reputation (Phil 2:7). A slave owns nothing – everything thing he has he sees as a stewardship. Is this a description of you?
As you see in verse 9 of Romans 14 Christ resurrected so that He would be Lord of your life! Have you given him that place? He will not force it. He wants servants that willingly submit themselves to His rule out of Love.
Christ wants all or nothing. He doesn’t want to help you live your life. He wants to live His life through you! Make yourself weak by bowing the knee to Christ and He in turn will make you strong by His own power (II Cor 12:9,10).
Consider the life of William Borden as you ponder what it means to make Christ Lord of your life. His lived with the mindset of “Saying ‘no’ to self and ‘yes’ to Jesus every time.”
