In Exodus chapter 1 verse 17 the Bible says that the Hebrew midwives feared God more than the King of Egypt. They obeyed God’s command not to kill over the King of Egypt’s command to kill all Hebrew boys that were born. There was extreme pressure to conform and give in to man but they made the tough decision and obeyed God.
Do you fear man more than God? Are you in bondage to man’s commands and demands? This situation shows us that freedom from the fear of man is not an easy journey, but it is worth it. It comes with a clear conscience and a right relationship with God.
Notice what Matthew Henry has to say about this matter.
“Where the fear of God rules in the heart, it will preserve it from the snare which the inordinate fear of man brings.”
Pray to God today for the strength and courage to obey Him at all times and to never let the fear of man cause disobedience to God.
Ask God to help you speak the truth in your heart even in the face of strong opposition. (see Psalm 15)
