Read James 5:13-19
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Are you down and almost out in your Christian life? Are you really struggling? Do you feel like you cannot do this anymore? Then in the words of James you are “sick” spiritually. James gives us the antidote. It is called prayer.
The problem is that many of the sick among us are too prideful to ask for help. We don’t want to bother or we are ashamed that we have become so weak. The answer is prayer but the Bible says that we must “call” for help (vs.14). Your brothers and sisters in Christ and your pastor may be totally unaware of your sickness. Many times when we become spiritually ill we cut ourselves off from our spiritual leaders making matters worse. Be honest and call on them to really pray for you.
The Bible assures us that the “prayer of faith” will save you and that “God will raise you up.” If you’re down, and depressed then you are probably miserable. That is no place for a Christian. It’s not what God wants for you either. I am not talking of physical healing but spiritual. God doesn’t want His children bed-ridden with the spiritual flu.
Call on your pastor or spiritual men or women around you today and ask for prayer. Let God turn your sickness into singing!
